Braxton's MOM

Hello to anyone who can help. I am a mother of 3 boys and we are not looking for pitty but help!!! We have a 5 year old who is in need of major dental work. I recently got a job that offers dental and health insurance. I have Delta Dental. Since my son had never been to a dentist now was the time to start especially when he started to complain of pain. After a visit to the dentist we were told he had 2 cavities that needed urgent help. We got a payday loans and a loan from a local agency to pay for it about 6 months later. When we went to the dentist it had worsened from time elasped. They said the severity of it he would need giggle gas, not covered by insurance. After another appointment and new x-rays we have been referred out to a sedation dentist. My new plan of treatment is almost $1300.00 after the insurance is paid. Which doesn't include Surgery center ($1300.00) or the anesthesia ($700.00 for a 2-hour appointment) My total portion has to be paid up front and they will file insurance and be reinbursed but after insurance is paid I will have to pay 3329.00. I've tried to call Voc- Rehab but they will not perform services on him b/c of his age. If anyone knows of anyone who can help me in any ways possible it would be great!! I am a working parent who has insurance, not living on any goverment program and am having doors closed right in front of me. It's upsetting to know that my child needs pain medicine just to get a good nights sleep while we think how we are going to mange this one. Once the major stuff is done the Dr. wants to pull 2 teeth up front be cause of decay But put in a permanant bridge until he is 12 for prevenative. My other 2 children do not have any teeth problems so we are just in need of our 5 year old. I do not have credit or fancy cars, nice furniture or money in savings or anything to hold as collateral for any more loans. If anyone knows of any resources that may help, please email me samb252004@yahoo.com

It may not be much help, but you're not alone. The last dentist I visited did a root canal, but refused to put in a permanent filling. The temporary one eroded out in a few months. The dentist's wife, who is the dental hygenist for their practise, removed most of the fillings on the right side of my mouth and cracked the crown on a lower tooth. The teeth without fillings now have enormous holes, and two of them have broken off. I haven't been able to smile since then, and that was in 2000! Two of the broken teeth are right in front, and the holes show even when I talk, so I've almost given up on speaking in public without holding my hand over my mouth, which makes what I say difficult to understand. The worst of it, though, is that it's so difficult to eat, and, of course, the pain is no picnic, either. It's difficult to believe that there's no help for people in our situation. Here's hoping that some dentists take their oath of service seriously and provide us with the help we need...

Interesting, I keep noticing the same posting of the same links for help. First off, the number one link is dental help for people who are disabled! Not ordinary people like us. And the second listing is medical clinics and if dental is offered, again Los Angeles's solution for dental problems is extractions or nominal prices.

I am a 31 year old single mother of 2. I am currently unemployed and am having a very difficult time obtaining a job. My problem is that I DO NOT SMILE!!! Why, because for the past 7yrs. my teeth have slowly been extracted. I now have only 5 upper teeth left and 11 lower teeth. I have been eating whatever I can that doesn't hurt my gums or leave them swollen in pain. I am on ahcccs, they will only pay for extractions. I don't make enough money even when I'm working to be able to pay for dentures. My self-esteem, well what's left of it anyway, is so low that my ability to "SELL myself" to potential employers is NIL! I need some help in finding a dentist who is willing to extract the rest of my teeth(cuz they are hopeless to fix), and provide me with a set of dentures(within one week)at either a very very very low cost, or I am also willing to work the fee off by doing some office work. PLEASE if anyone knows of a kindhearted dentist out there please e-mail me at rdjc32@hotmail.com. Thank You for your time.
